Energy Plant Thermal Insulation Dublin
TN Insulations Ltd
Client: Jeremias Flues
Project Name: Energy Plant Thermal Insulation Dublin
Location: Dublin, Granger Castle.
Project Overview
This project involved the delivery of a full thermal insulation package for a large-scale energy installation in Dublin. Working in partnership with the client, we were responsible for insulating a network of 44 exhaust vessels along with the associated ductwork connecting generator engines to the main chimney system.
The scope of work required careful planning and coordination to ensure all elements were insulated efficiently while maintaining safe access and minimising disruption to ongoing operations. The system operates at elevated temperatures, making effective insulation essential for both performance and safety.
Specification
To meet the performance requirements of the system, a robust insulation specification was implemented:
- Insulation: Two layers of 75mm high-temperature mineral wool (“woolly dog”)
- Total Thickness: 150mm insulation build-up for maximum thermal efficiency
- Exterior Finish: 1mm plain aluminium cladding, providing a durable, weather-resistant, and protective outer layer
Installation & Accessibility
Due to the scale and height of the exhaust vessels and ducting, safe and efficient access was a key consideration throughout the project. Our team utilised a range of specialist access equipment, including:
- Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs)
- Cherry pickers for high-level access
- Carefully planned access routes to ensure safe working at height
All work was carried out in line with strict health and safety standards, ensuring the wellbeing of both our team and on-site personnel at all times.
